MASCAC Men’s Outdoor Track Pre-Season Poll Announced

Falcons selected third with a total of nine points

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's outdoor track and field team was recently selected third in the 2019 MASCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

The Bears of Bridgewater State were selected as the pre-season favorite to win the 2019 MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field crown after receiving four first place votes to amass a total of 16 points to edge second place Westfield State's total of 12 points, which included the final first place ballot.

Sitting in the third slot was Fitchburg State with a total of nine points, Worcester State tied the Falcons for third with nine points as well. Massachusetts Maritime rounded out this year's MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Poll in the fifth spot after finishing with a total of four points.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
