Falcons Open Season At BSU Invite
Stalters sets meet record with first place toss of 61.34 meters in the javelin
Bridgewater, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's outdoor track & field team opened its 2019 season, placing seventh at the 2019 Bridgewater State Bears Invitational with a total of 47 points at Swenson Field.

How It Happened
Senior Cameron Stalters (Norton, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons, placing first overall with an Open New England qualifying toss of 61.34 meters to set a new meet record in the process, while sophomore Christian McWhinnie-Armstead (Lowell, Mass.) added a second place mark of 1.95 meters in the high jump to qualify for DIII New England's.
In the 10,000 meter, sophomore Jacob Movsessian (New Ipswich, N.H.) turned in a time of 33:22.57 to finish second overall, while in the 800 meter, freshman Nicholas Sachetta (Billerica, Mass.) (2:06.99) and sophomore Timothy Sheehy (Wakefield, R.I.) placed fifth and 11th respectively to qualify for MASCAC's.
Junior Zachary Joseph (Hyde Park, Mass.) posted a post-season qualifying time of 11.81 seconds in the 100 meter, while sophomore Max Charles II (Medford, Mass.) notched a solid time of 56.84 seconds in the 400 meter to qualify for MASCAC's.
In the field, senior Brendan Courtney (North Attleboro, Mass.) registered a MASCAC qualifying toss of 11.61 meters in the shotput, while newcomer Brandon McNeil (Dartmouth, Mass.) placed tenth in the long jump with post-season qualifying mark of 5.69 meters.
In the triple jump, McNeil (12.65m), junior Zachary Buckland (Billerica, Mass.) (12.30m) and junior Wilkerson Pierre (Cambridge, Mass.) (12.18m) finished second, fourth and seventh respectively to qualify for MASCAC's, while Buckland added a tenth place effort in the high jump with a post-season qualifying jump of 1.70 meters to close out the top efforts for the Green and Gold on the afternoon.
