Bourassa Selected MASCAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Shirley Mass. native notches first weekly accolade of the year 

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State sophomore Liam Bourassa (Shirley, Mass.) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The second-year Falcon collects his first weekly honor of the year after placing first overall in the javelin with an All-New England qualifying throw of 64.85 meters, while adding a first place, All-NE qualifying mark of 45.58 meters in the discus.

In addition, Bourassa also finished first overall in the hammer throw with a DIII New-England qualifying toss of 49.23 meters as well as placing first overall in the shotput with a throw of 13.17 meters at the Corsair Invitational on Saturday. With his throw in the javelin, Bourassa currently ranks second in Division III and 27th in the discus.

The Fitchburg State Men's Outdoor Track & Field team returns to action on Saturday as they host the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational, starting at 10:00AM.
