Fitchburg State Finishes 33rd At ECAC Championships

Quinlan leads Falcons with top finish on the afternoon

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (November 5, 2011) – The Fitchburg State men’s cross country team was in action this afternoon as the Falcons competed in the ECAC Championships hosted by Williams College.

The Falcons used this afternoon’s contest as a tune up for next week’s NCAA Regional, using the 8K layout as an open competition for their seventh man spot. Fitchburg State finished 33rd overall at the championships, posting 933 points.

Freshman James Quinlan (N. Andover, Mass./N. Andover) led the pack, placing 153rd out of 300 runners as the rookie posted a time of 29:59 to finish as the top Falcon. Classmate Dan Drescher (Saugus, Mass./Northeast) followed Quinlan into the shoot with a time of 30:29 (183rd), while sophomore Larry Teague (Tyngsboro, Mass./Greater Lowell) placed 197th with a time of 30:44.

Newcomer Dan Osborn (Vineyard Haven, Mass./Martha’s Vineyard) finished fourth in the Falcons line up with a respectable time of 31:00, while Chad Crowther (Lowell, Mass./Greater Lowell) and Patrick Lucas (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro) turned in times of 31:20 and 33:23 respectively.

Fitchburg State will be in action next weekend as it travels to the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon.
