Fitchburg State Races At NCAA Qualifier

Kibler posts 52nd place finish to lead men; Page leads women with time of 25:36

BRUNSWICK, Maine (November 12, 2011) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams were in action this afternoon as the Falcons competed in the New England Division III Cross Country Championships at Bowdoin College.

The Fitchburg State women’s team finished 45th out of 56 schools in a 6K race, while the men placed 25th overall in their 8K race. Seniors Katie Page (Beverly, Mass./Beverly)  and Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) led their respective teams, posting time of 25:36 and 25:49 respectively. Page finished 215th overall on the women’s side, while Kibler turned in a 52nd place finish.

Other strong performers on the ladies side were freshman Bralia Roy (Hyannis, Mass./Barnstable) and junior Emily Lane (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) who posted times of 25:42 and 25:50 respectively. Junior Kelsey Chand (Middleboro, Mass./Bristol Plymouth) added a 28:49 effort, while Lisa Dias (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth), Katy Scott (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug) and Rebecca True (Rutland, Mass./Wachusett Regional) notched times of 28:56, 30:00 and 31:20.

Joining Kibler among the top of the men’s leader board was freshman Brandon Davis (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) and Eric Ouellette (Ashburnham, Mass./Oakmont) who placed 159th (27:48) and 184th (28:14) on the afternoon. Junior Will Lary (Winchendon, Mass./Murdock) turned in a strong time of 29:05 for the Falcons, while classmate Mike Grasela (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) added a time of 29:13. Newcomers Damion Perry (Westport, Mass./Diman Regional) and Jim Quinlan (N. Andover, Mass./N. Andover) rounded out the afternoon with a time of 29:13 each.
