Fitchburg State Participates In 7th Annual Saints Invitational

Page and Davis top-performers for the Falcons this weekend

BOSTON, Mass. (October 14, 2011) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s’ cross country teams participated in the 7th Annual Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College at Franklin Park this afternoon.

The Fitchburg State women’s team saw only three members of its squad compete on the rainy and dreary afternoon as senior Katelyn Page (Beverly, Mass./Beverly), junior Bralia Roy (Hyannis, Mass./Barnstable) and classmate Kelsey Chand (Middleboro, Mass./Bristol Plymouth) braved the storm. Page and Roy finished neck and neck on the afternoon, posting time of 22:42 and 22:43, while Chand turned in a 24:36 effort.

On the men’s side, freshman Brandon Davis (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) put forth the men’s best effort of the day, finishing 24th overall with a time of 29:11. The Falcon men placed fourth in the invitational, totaling 161 points on the afternoon.

Joining Davis in the festivities was junior Mike Grasela (New Beford, Mass./New Bedford) who placed 26th with a time of 29:18, while senior Chris Kibler (Bath, Maine/Morse) notched a time of 30:11. Freshman James Quinlan (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) added a 30:36 effort, while newcomer Damion Perry (Westport, Mass./Diman Regional) capped the top five with a time of 30:53.

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams will be off for two weeks before they compete in the MASCAC/Alliance Championships on Saturday October 29th.
