Fitchburg State Takes On ECAC Championships

Teague and Ward lead the way for the Falcons at Williams College

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (November 2, 2012) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the 2012 ECAC Championships hosted by Williams College this afternoon.

The men finished 34th overall with 950 points, while the women placed 40th with 1,061 points on the afternoon.

On the men’s side, senior Larry Teague (Tyngsboro, Mass./Greater Lowell) led the way for the men, posting a time of 30:08, while sophomore Michael Osborn (Vineyard Haven, Mass./Martha’s Vineyard) added a mark of 30:32 over the 8K layout. Junior Kevin O’Donnell (Canton, Mass./Canton), sophomore Stephen Hogue (Dalton, Mass./Wahconah) and rookie Sam Carroll (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) rounded out the men’s top five with times of 31:39, 32:25 and 32:48 respectively.

For the women, freshman Elizabeth Ward (Ashby, Mass./North Middlesex) earned the Falcons best time of the day, posting a mark of 27:56 over a 6K layout, while classmate Jessica Mangan (Everett, Mass./Everett) added a 28:51 effort. Senior Kelsey Chand (Middleboro, Mass./Bristol Plymouth) and freshman Geneieve LaPoint (Fitchburg, Mass./Liverpool) notched times of 30:56 and 31:21, while sophomore Stephen Irvin () capped the top runners of the day with a mark of 32:52.

Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country team will be in action again next weekend as they compete at the NCAA Division III Championships hosted by Westfield State.
