Fitchburg State Takes On Saints Invitational

Hannon and Harrison pace Falcons at 8th annual Emmanuel meet

BOSTON, Mass. (October 18, 2013) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the 2013 Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College at Franklin Park in Boston this afternoon.

The Fitchburg State men’s team finished eighth out of the 16 competing teams with a total of 198 points, while the women placed seventh out of 15 teams in the field with 225 points on the afternoon.

For the men, freshman Brandon Hannon (Pelham, N.H.) guided the men’s team to an eighth place finish, earing the top Falcon spot with a time of 27:42 to place 14th overall, while classmate Matt Cuomo (Carlisle, Mass.) followed in 34th place with a solid 8K time of 29:00.

Senior Larry Teague (Tyngsboro, Mass.) finished in 52nd with a time of 29:37, while sophomore Tim Allen (Methuen, Mass.) and newcomer Rawson Randlett (Plymouth, Mass.) rounded out the top five Falcon efforts for the men with times of 30:07 and 30:51 respectively.

On the women’s side, junior Jenae Harrison (Sioux Falls, S.D.) paved the way for the ladies, registering a 39th place finish with a time of 22:03, while classmate Braila Roy (Hyannis, Mass.) finished the 5K Franklin Park layout in a solid time of 22:12 to place 41st overall as the women’s squad placed seventh overall.

Sophomore Elizabeth Ward (Ashby, Mass.) put forth a strong effort, placing 45th overall with a time of 22:18, while classmate Jessica Mangan (Everett, Mass.) and junior Ebony Schuerman (Fitchburg, Mass.) wrapped up the top five performances for the ladies with times of 23:44 and 24:36 respectively.

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams will be in action again next Saturday as they travel to Williams College for a meet starting at 11 a.m.
