Fitchburg State Races At Bruce Krisch Cross Country Cup

Women collect 250 points for ninth place; Men place sixth with 177 points

RINDGE, N.H. (September 14, 2013) – The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Franklin Pierce University this afternoon, competing in 2013 Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup. The women placed ninth overall with 250 points, while the men finished sixth overall with 177 points.

For the men, junior Eric Ouellette (Ashburnham, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons, placing eighth overall with a time of 17:55 on a rough 5k terrain, while sophomore Tim Allen (Methuen, Mass.) posted a time of 19:44 to place 53rd overall.

Freshman Colen Stack (Greenfield, Mass.) also ran well, placing 60th overall with a time of 20:11, while senior Larry Teague (Tyngsboro, Mass.) notched a time of 20:32 to place 60th overall. Rounding out the top seven efforts on the men’s side, were sophomores Sam Carroll (Brockton, Mass.) (73rd) and Zach Levenson (Canton, Mass.) (83rd) and newcomer Jacob Hazel (Easton, Mass.) (87th) with times of 20:37, 21:28 and 21:18 respectively  

On the women’s side, sophomore Elizabeth Ward (Ashby, Mass.) paced Fitchburg State, earning the top Falcon spot (45th) with a time of 25:24 over the 5k layout, while senior Samantha Wilkinson (Wakefield, Mass.) finished 49th overall with a time of 25:52. Sophomore Erica Mallozzi (Gardner, Mass.) put forth a solid time of 25:58 to finish 51st overall, while junior Jenae Harrison (Sioux Falls, S.D.), freshman Kelly McCarthy (Assonet, Mass.), and junior Braila Roy (Hyannis, Mass.) placed 51st, 52nd and 53rd overall with times of 25:59, 26:02 and 26:12 respectively.

Rounding out the top Falcon efforts was junior Ebony Schuerman (Fitchburg, Mass.), notching a solid time of 28:35 to finish 63rd overall.

The Fitchburg State men’s and women’s cross country teams will be back in action next Saturday as it competes at the 2013 Shriners Invitational hosted by UMass Dartmouth starting at 10:30 a.m.
