Falcons Participate in ECAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Fitchburg State cross country teams participated in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII Championships on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park.

The women's side placed 43rd (1,166 points) in the 6k race, while the men took 28th with 797 points on the 8k course.

Senior Braila Roy led the women's side with a 150th place finish coming in at 26.11, while freshman Shawna Ryan was the second Falcon across the line at 27.24 (119th). Freshman Bridget Diggins came in at 27.55 in 227th, while sophomore Taylor Deschenes placed 289th (30.50).  Freshman Alyssa Cardosa and junior Alexis Podedworny wrapped up the Fitchburg State runners in 303rd and 306th respectively (33.01 & 34.32).

Sophomore Matthew Cuomo paced the men's squad at 27.29 (85th), and senior Jim Quinlan crossed the finish line at the 29.06 mark (167th). In 170th place was freshman Sean Beverly at 29.10, while Daniel Fournier took 172nd place (29.14). Alex Napolitan and Colen Stack rounded out the lineup in 203rd (29.45) and 233rd (30.33) respectively.

Multiple runners from both teams did not run in todays race in preparation of the NCAA DIII race next weekend hosted at Williams College.
