Falcons Take Top Honors At Keene State Invite

Amaral and Hastings lead Fitchburg State to first place finish

KEENE, N.H. – The Fitchburg State men's cross country was in action this morning, taking home top honors at the 2016 Keene State College Cross Country Invitational with a total of 50 points.

Junior Brian Amaral led the way for the Falcons, placing second overall with stellar time of 25:46.7 over the five-mile course, while classmate Jake Hastings followed in third place with time of 25:47.6 for the Falcons.

Senior Matthew Cuomo was next Fitchburg State, posting a time of 27:18.5 with a 12th place effort, while sophomore Anthony Darrigo crossed the finish line in 14th place with time of 27:25.9. Fellow sophomore Joseph Darrigo notched a time of 27:45.8, while seniors Brandon Hannon (28:14.3) and Michael Martin (29:04.4) rounded out the top efforts on the day for the Green and Gold.

The Fitchburg State men's cross country team returns to action next Saturday as select member complete in 2016 All New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston at 10:30 a.m., while the rest of the team races at the 2016 James Early Invitational, hosted by Westfield State at 10:30 a.m.
