Amaral Earns MASCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner Of The Year Honors

Tewksbury, Mass. native collects fourth weekly accolade of the season

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State senior Brian Amaral (Tewksbury, Mass.) recently earned both Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week and Runner of the Year accolades as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Amaral claimed top honors at the 2017 MASCAC Men's Cross Country Championship meet on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park, turning in a time of 25:41.37 over the 8K layout to help lead the Fitchburg State men's cross country team to its second MASCAC Championship in three years.

With his first place finish, the fourth-year Falcon was named MASCAC Runner of the Year, in addition to picking up his fourth weekly accolade on the season after being named MASCAC men's cross country Runner of the Week as well.

The Fitchburg State men's cross country returns to action on Saturday, November 11th as it competes in the 2017 NCAA DIII Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Southern Maine, starting at 11 a.m.
