Dartmouth, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's cross country competed at the 2018 Corsair Cross Country Invitational placing 12 overall with a total of 786 points at UMass Dartmouth this morning.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State was led by sophomore Jacob Movsessian (Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic), who finished 12th overall with a time of 25:41.3, while senior Joseph Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) followed in 33rd place, turning in a time of 26:01.9 over the 8K course.

Senior Anthony Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) entered the chute with a time of 27:22.6, while sophomore Timothy Sheehy (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) crossed the finish line at 27:36.0.

Rounding out the top seven finishers for the Green and Gold were senior Stephen McCall (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) (28:50.7), sophomore Anthony Ortwein (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) (28:51.1) and junior Brandon DiGregorio (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) (29:34.4).

Inside the Numbers

Fitchburg State placed eighth overall at last year's UMass Dartmouth Invitational with a total of 170 points.

Southern New Hampshire University claimed first place by amassing a total of 57 points

Senior Sam Brunnette (Newport Center, Vt./North County Union) of Plymouth State crossed the finish line first with a time of 24:32.1.
