New London, Conn. – The Fitchburg State University men's cross country team placed 19th overall with a total of 580 points at the 2018 Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational this morning.

Fitchburg State was led by sophomore Jacob Movsessian (Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic), who placed 71st overall with a time of 26:11.4, while senior Anthony Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) followed with a time of 26:32.9 over the 8K course..

Senior Joseph Darrigo (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) was next across the line, turning in a time of 26:45.9, while sophomore Timothy Sheehy (Wakefield R.I./South Kingstown) entered the chute with a time of 27:22.2.

Senior Stephen McCall (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) (28:48.9), Sophomore Joe Weston (Middleton, Mass./Mascomomet Regional) (29:19.3) and senior Ryan Stopka (Rochester, Mass./Old Colony) (31:17.1) rounded out the top finishers for the Falcons on the day.

Fitchburg State did not compete at last year's Connecticut College Invite.

Amherst College claimed first place at this year's Connecticut College Cross Country Invite with a total of 72 points

Senior Eric Hermann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) of Dickinson College placed first overall at the 2018 Connecticut College XC Invitation with a time of 24:42.2.
