Falcons Finish Runner-Up at MASCAC Men's Cross Country Championship

 

Manyok Captures Individual Title & Rookie of the Year, Jellison Coach of the Year

Devens, Mass -  The Fitchburg State University men's cross country team finished runner-up at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Champions this afternoon after placing second overall with 53 points at Willard Park.

How It Happened

Sophomore Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) continued his fall dominance on the course by capturing the 2021 individual title placing first with a time of 26:07.14 leading the Green and Gold to a second place finish.

Junior Brian O'Sullivan (Templeton, Mass) finished in 7th place with a time of 27:44.73 earning MASCAC All-Conference honors, while senior Trevor Fields (Shirley, Mass.) followed just outside the top 10 with a time of 28:14.00 over the 8K course.

The Falcons rounded out the top 20 with juniors Matthew Catarius (Shrewsbury, Mass.) (28:49.48), Samuel Flint (Methuen, Mass.) (28:51.06) and senior Nicholas Sachetta (Billerica, Mass.) (28:57.10) finishing 16th, 17th and 18th respectively.

  • Manyok swept the MASCAC Conference accolades, he was named 2021 MASCAC Runner of the Year, Rookie of the Year and MASCAC All-Conference
  • Head Coach Jim Jellison was named 2021 MASCAC Coach of the Year
  • The Falcons had six runners finish in the Top 20
  • Newcomer Angelo Pinto (Chaplin, Conn.) finished 24 with a time of 29:50.74, while classmate Aidan Cattelan (West Hartford, Conn.)  finished 25th (29:56.16)
  • Junior Cameron Davis (Gardner, Mass.) finished 29th, time 30:10.44
  • Junior Tyssen LaBombard (Shelburne Falls, Mass.) finished 47th , time 32:51.18
  • Freshman Kenneth Campbell (South Dennis, Mass.)  finished 58th, time 35:37. 64
  • Sophomore Elijah Stathis (Northampton, Mass.) finished 61st, time  36:24.95
  • Freshman Benjamin Mulrenan (Townsend, Mass.) finished 63rd, time 38:41.75
  • Worcester State was crowned 2021 MASCAC Champions with a total of 49 points.
