Men’s Cross Country Excel At James Early Invite
Burns lead the way for Falcons, finishing 48th with a time of 27:13.96
Westfield, MA – The Fitchburg State University men's cross country team finished 18th overall with a total of 493 points at the 2023 James Early Invitational, hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park today.

How It Happened
Sophomore Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing 48th overall with a time of 27:13.96 over the 8K course, while junior Cristian Bueno Campos (Lawrence, MA) followed in 108th place with a time of 28:49.41
Sophomore Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) was next for the Green and Gold, posting a time of 29:57.38, while newcomer Joshua Lancaster (Holden, MA) entered the chute at 29:57.83.
Sophomore Casey LaCombe (South Hadley, MA) crossed the finish line at 30:15.55, while senior Tyssen LaBombard (Shelburne Falls, MA) registered a time of 30:21.35. Sophomore Elijah Stathis (North Hampton, MA) rounded out the top efforts for the Falcons with a time of 30:31.60.
Sophomore Elijah Stathis (North Hampton, MA) posted a time of 30:50.6, while senior Tyssen LaBombard (Shelburne Falls, MA) crossed the finish line at 31:06.3. Graduate student Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) rounded out the top efforts for the Green and Gold on the day with a time of 31:33.06

Michael Olson of Plymouth State captured the 2023 James Early Invitational individual title, placing first overall with a time of 24:56.41
