Softball Collects Two All-Conference Honors

Gemma and Comtois selected to MASCAC All-Conference second team

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State softball team named two player to the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference teams as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Junior shortstop Marissa Gemma and freshman catcher Emily Comtois were selected to the 2015 MASCAC All-Conference second team as voted upon by the league's coaches.

Gemma collects her second MASCAC All-Conference selection after posting a team-leading .352 batting average with 31 hits, six doubles, 14 runs scored, four stolen bases and five runs batted in for the Green and Gold.

Comtois earns her first post-season accolade after witnessing a stellar rookie campaign. The first-year Falcon hit .286 (20-for-70) including a team-best eight doubles, six runs scored, eight walks and nine RBI.

The Fitchburg State softball team concluded its 2015 season with an overall record of 11-16 and a 5-9 mark within conference play.
