Pietersen Earns MASCAC Softball Rookie Of The Week Honors

Norton, Mass. native nets first weekly honor of the season

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman infielder Olivia Pietersen (Norton, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) softball rookie of the week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

The first-year infielder batted .500 (2-for-4) with two runs scored, one walk and one RBI in her first two collegiate games. Pietersen finished 1-for-1 with her first collegiate hit as well as one run scored, one walk and one RBI in a 9-6 game one win over Albertus Magnus before adding one hit and one run scored in a 5-4 setback to Iowa Wesleyan in the night cap on Sunday.

The Fitchburg State Softball team (2-1) returns to action on Tuesday as it takes on La Roche and Clarks Summit in day three action of the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM.
