Pietersen Selected MASCAC Softball Rookie Of The Week

Norton, Mass. native earns third consecutive weekly accolade of the year

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman infielder Olivia Pietersen (Norton, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) softball rookie of the week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

The first-year infielder receives her third straight weekly honor after batting .571 (4-for-7) with two doubles, four runs scored and three RBI in a double-header sweep over Anna Maria College on Thursday.

Pietersen finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBI in a 13-4, game one victory before adding one hit and one run scored in a 9-0 triumph in the night cap on Thursday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State Softball team (8-4)) returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Becker College to take on the Hawks for a non-conference twin-billing, starting at 3:00 PM.
