Four Falcons Collect Softball All-Conference Honors  

 

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University softball team placed four members on the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference Teams as announced by the conference office this morning.

Leading the way for the Falcons was junior Audrey Johnson (Fitchburg, Mass.), who earned MASCAC All-Conference First Team honors after hitting .271 with 19 hits, four doubles, two home runs, 6 runs scored and 8 RBI in 24 games for the Green and Gold.

Junior Morgan Cormier (Leominster, Mass.) sophomore Julianna Savone (Palm Coast, Fla.) and newcomer Lauren Kirkconnell (Dayville, Conn.) were selected to the MASCAC All-Conference Second Team, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

Cormier was second on the team in batting average belting .386 with 17 hits, in 46 plate appearances. She had seven stolen bases and nine runs scored in 14 games played.

In 14 games Savone had a team best .409 batting average and .462 on base percentage in addition the catcher had 18 hits including 2 doubles, one triple, one home run and 14 RBI.

Kirkconnell posted a .370 batting average with 17 hits, 7 runs scored, 3 walks and 8 RBI.

The Fitchburg State softball team recently concluded its 2021 campaign with an overall record of 10-14 and a 4-6 mark within the MASCAC.
