Merry MacDonald - Head Coach  (Tenth Season; 130-144-0)

The 2022 season will be Merry MacDonald's tenth as head coach of the Falcons' Softball program. She was named the tenth head coach in Fitchburg State Softball history in August of 2012.
 
Over her past seven seasons at the helm, MacDonald has led the Falcons to the top of the conference, qualifying for the post season tournament.  She has also mentored the 2013 & 2016 MASCAC Rookie of the Year and numerous all-conference players. In addition, Merry recently guided the Falcons to a program record 26 wins as well as collecting her 100th collegiate coaching victory during the 2018-19 campaign. For her efforts, MacDonald was named the 2018-19 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Confeernce (MASCAC) Coach of the Year as voted on by the conference's eight coaches.
 
Prior to Fitchburg State University, she served two years as an assistant coach at Springfield College. With the Pride, MacDonald was responsible for all the recruiting needs of the program, while also assisting with game-day operations and administrative duties. She graduated from Springfield in 2012 with a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration.
 
A 2010 graduate of Endicott College, MacDonald was a member of the Gulls' softball team holding numerous records including the Gulls career batting average of .398.  Throughout her career she earned the 2010 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Senior-Scholar Athlete Award, the 2009 CCC Player of the Year honor, and three all-conference accolades. MacDonald was also a three-time NFCA Regional All-American, while graduating summa cum laude in Sports Management.
 
In addition to her coaching duties, MacDonald also serves as the Assistant Athletic Director, Senior Women Administrator, Compliance Officer and SAAC advisor.
