Jim Jellison: Head Coach (32nd Season; 16 MASCAC Team Titles)

Jim Jellison is in his 32nd season as head coach of the Fitchburg State men's and women's indoor and outdoor track teams. He has led the Falcons to 16 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) team titles, including a MASCAC Championship during the 2009 outdoor season.

Through his hard work over the past three seasons, Jellison has showcased Fitchburg State as a top competitor in the MASCAC Conference throughout the fall, winter and spring. Named the MASCAC Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2008, Jellison led the Falcons to a Men's Championship title, while guiding Fitchburg State to a second place showing a year ago.

Over the course of his 2007-08 season, Jellison and the Falcons saw three runners qualify for the NCAA Division III Regional Championships hosted by Connecticut College. At the Championships, the men's team garnered a 23rd place finish out of a field of 59, while the women's squad finished 44th overall.

In addition to his track and field duties, Jellison also serves as men's and women's cross country coach at Fitchburg State. He has been coaching both cross-country and women's track since 1979, while taking over the men's track position in 1994. Jellison was a major catalyst in the rebuilding of the men's program, which only started with five athletes. Today, Jellision's cross country teams average over 22 runners, while the track teams boast a strong 40+ athletes.

Throughout his tenure, Jellison has also coached 48 NCAA All-Americans including seven National Champions. He has led the Falcons to several post-season honors, including appearances at the Division III New England's, All-New England's and ECAC Championships.

Jellison, a retired physical education teacher, resides in Fitchburg, Mass. with his wife Alice and their three sons, Robbie (19), Chris (16) and Shane (6).
