Rose Collects ECAC DIII NE Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors
Rockland, Mass. native picks up fourth ECAC DIII NE weekly honor of the season
FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman guard Kyra Rose was recently tabbed Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII New England Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Rose earns her fourth ECAC Division III NE weekly honor of the year after averaging 20.7 points, nine caroms, three assists, 2.7 steals and 1.7 blocks per game in three contests for Fitchburg State. The first-year guard posted a double-double of 36 points and 13 boards as well as five assist, three steals and two blocks in a 94-89 overtime win against Dean College on Monday before adding nine points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in a loss to Framingham State on Wednesday.
Kyra wrapped up the week notching a double-double of 17 points and ten boards to go along with two assists, four steals and three blocks in a setback to Westfield State on Saturday.
The Fitchburg State women's basketball team (9-10, 1-6 MASCAC) returns to action on Saturday as it hosts the Bears of Bridgewater State for a contest starting at 3 p.m.
