Falcons Edged By Rams, 69-61
Malboeuf and Marazzi combine for 40 points and 15 rebounds
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's basketball team dropped a 69-61 decision to the Rams of Suffolk University in non-conference action this evening at the Parkinson Gymnasium.

How It Happened
Suffolk jumped out to an early 11-4 margin on a pair of buckets from sophomore guard Alexis Hackett (Charlton, Mass.) and trey by senior Alexandra Nagri (Salem, N.H.). Fitchburg State answered back, going on a 9-2 stretch as sophomore Angelina Marazzi (Manchester, N.H.) connected on a pair of jumpers, while newcomer Chloe Roberts (Hanson, Mass.) knocked down a three-pointer to give the Falcons a 15-13 edge.
In the second frame, the Rams regained the lead (20-17) on a trey by freshman Jenni-Rose DiCecco (Falmouth, Mass.) before the Falcons closed out the half, going on a 7-2 run on baskets by Marazzi,, senior Michaela McTomney (Bellingham, Mass.) and junior Mikala Malboeuf (Fitchburg, Mass.) to make the score 33-28 going into the break.
Following intermission, Suffolk battled back to take a 33-31 advantage on back-to-back three pointers by senior Georgia Bourikas (Hull, Mass.) and Nagri to start the quarter. With the score 50-41, Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 50-44 as Malboeuf scored six straight points to end the stanza.
In the fourth quarter, The Green and Gold responded yet again as Malboeuf hit a pair of layups and a three-pointer to give the hosts a 51-50 margin. The Rams regained the lead for good following a trey from Bourikas however (53-51), en-route to a 69-61 victory.
Inside the Numbers
Fitchburg State shot 23-for-62 (37.1%) from the field and 24.1% (7-of-29) from three point range.
Suffolk went 26-of-71 (25.0%) overall, including (9-for-26) 25.0% from beyond the arc.
The Falcons were paced by Malboeuf with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Marazzi added 19 points and three caroms.
For the Rams, Bourikas led the way with game-best 30 points and 11 boards, while DiCecco chipped in with a double-double of 14 points and ten rebounds.
12th meeting between two schools on the hardwood with the Falcons 7-5 all-time when taking on the Rams.
Two teams had split the previous two meeting with Suffolk earning a 66-30 win over Fitchburg State on the road in the last meeting between the two teams (12/3/2015).
