Mitchell Tabbed MASCAC And WACBA Women’s Basketball Rookie Of The Week

Millbury, Mass. native earns third weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman guard Mikaela Mitchell (Millbury, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) and Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) women's basketball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference offices earlier this week.

The first-year Falcon collects her third weekly accolade of the year after averaging 9.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game in a 1-1 week for the Green and Gold.

Mitchell collected seven points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in an 84-53 victory over Anna Maria last Monday before adding a double-double of 12 points and 13 boards to go along with one assist and four steals in a 69-45 setback to Salem State on Wednesday evening.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team (5-9, 0-2 MASCAC) returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts the Trailblazers of MCLA for a MASCAC matchup starting at 5:30 P.M.
