Mitchell Named MASCAC Women’s Basketball Rookie Of The Week

Millbury, Mass. native registers fifth weekly accolade of the year

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Freshman guard Mikaela Mitchell (Millbury, Mass.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

The first-year guard averaged 11.5 points, 8.5 boards, four assists and 1.5 steals per contest in a 1-1 week for the Green and Gold. Mitchell collected eight points, six rebounds and four assists in a setback to Westfield State on Wednesday before adding a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds as well as four assists and three steals in a 62-59 win over Bridgewater State on Saturday

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team (9-16, 3-9 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to Bridgewater State to take on the Bears in a MASCAC quarterfinal round game at 7:00 P.M.
