Coppinger Named MASCAC Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

Boston, Mass. native collects first weekly honor of the season

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Junior guard Catherine Coppinger (Boston, Mass.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Coppinger earns her first weekly accolade on the year after averaging a double-double of 16 points and 17.5 rebounds per contest as well as 3.5 steals and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 54.2% from the field (12.-of-24) over two games for the Falcons.

The third-year guard posted a double-double of 22 points and 19 boards to go along with one assist and three steals in a 74-71 setback to Suffolk University on Thursday before adding another double-double of ten points and 16 caroms as well as two assists and four steals in a 64-47 victory against Southern Vermont on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team (6-3, 0-0 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as it travels to Regis College for a non-conference tilt, starting at 6:00 P.M.
