Falcons Fall To Bears In MASCAC Action
Bridgewater, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University Women's Basketball team dropped a 97-42 decision to the Bears of Bridgewater State University this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Tinsley Center.

How It Happened
1st quarter
Bridgewater State opened the contest with a 7-2 edge on a bucket from junior Sydney Bradbury (East Bridgewater, Mass.) before Fitchburg State answered with jumper by senior Jadelen Harold (Nantucket, Mass.). The Bears upped their advantage, going on a 12-3 run, capped by a Kylie Grassi (Plymouth, Mass.) layup.
The Falcons trimmed the lead to 19-10 as junior Gina Parmenter (Oxford, Mass.) knocked down a three ball, but Bridgewater State would take a 25-10 margin after one quarter of play with a Caroline Tripp (Plymouth, Mass.) layup.
2nd quarter
The Green and Gold started the second frame with a three pointer by senior Lovashia Rosario (Worcester, Mass.) (27-13), but the hosts pushed its lead to 22-17 as senior Hannah Moniz (Taunton, Mass.) notched a jumper. Newcomer Rylie Harlow (Hanson, Mass.) proceeded to drain a three ball to reduce the deficit to 41-22 before Bridgewater State took a 47-22 margin into the break as Moniz connected on a layup.
3rd quarter
Following the intermission, Harold sank a pair from the free-throw stripe and Rosario added another three-pointer to cut the lead to 51-27 before Bridgewater State responded with a Hannah Dziakyk () three ball (56-29).
The Falcons answered back with buckets by Harold and freshman Morgan Genness (Belgrade, Maine) to make the score 57-33, but the Bears extended its advantage to 71-35 with a three ball from newcomer Eryn Rice (Medway, Mass.).
4th quarter
Bridgewater State raced to an 8-0 run (84-37), capped by a Destiny Fitzgerald (Medford, Mass.) pair of free-throw. Newcomer Pena Niles (Billerica, Mass.) netted the next five points for Fitchburg State with a three-pointer and a jumper, but the Bears secured the victory as Moniz collected a jumper, resulting in the 97-42 final.
Inside the Numbers
- Falcons were led by Rosario with a team-best 11 points, three rebounds, one assist and six steals
- Niles chipped with nine points, three caroms, two assists and two steals
- For the Bears, Grassi finished with a game-leading 15 points, one board, four assists and four blocks
