Rams Race Past Falcons in MASCAC Action

Fitchburg, Mass.  – The Fitchburg State women's basketball team fell to the Rams of Framingham State 91-37 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening at the Parkinson Gymnasium.

 The Basics

How It Happened

1st Quarter

Fitchburg State knotted the score 3-3 when freshman Morgan Genness (Belgrade, Maine) hit a deep ball from beyond the arc ninety seconds into the match. Senior Krysta Padellaro (Newburyport, Mass.) had a layup to move the Rams to 7-3, and the Falcons countered with a trey from senior Lovashia Rosario (Worcester, Mass.) to cut the lead to 7-6. The Rams upped the margin (21-6) with a 15-0 run, including six points from sophomore Katty Haidul (Gilford, NH), before sophomore Olivia Almeida (Mansfield, Mass.) answered for the Falcons.

2nd Quarter

The Green and Gold chipped the lead to 33-10 with a jumper from senior Jadelen Harold (Nantucket, Mass.) midway through the second quarter. The Rams closed out the frame with a 15-0 streak capped by five points from freshman Kelsey Yelle (Easton, Mass.) to take a 48-10 lead into intermission.

3rd Quarter

Fitchburg opened the frame with a pair from the charity stripe from freshman Rylie Harlow (Hanson, Mass.) but Framingham extended the lead on a jumper from senior Flannery O'Connor (Amesbury, Mass.). Genness drained a three from the corner and Rosario added another three-pointer to cut into the deficit (69-18) for the hosts.

4th quarter

Harlow opened the quarter with a three-point play and Harold added a pair from the free-throw line for the Falcons. Framingham grabbed an 83-25 edge with a three-point play from Katherine Haselton (Greenfield, Mass) before a lay-in from Almeida. Buckets from freshman Delaney Brown (Billerica, Mass.) and Sariah Dyer (Raynham, Mass.) closed out the scoring for the Falcons, resulting in the 91-37 final.

 

 Inside the Numbers

  • Almeida paced the Falcons with 9 points and 3 rebounds while Rosario finished with 7 points and a steal.  
  • For the Rams, Padellaro led the way with a game-high 18 points while Haidula posted a game-high seventeen caroms and eight points.
  • Framingham State shot 30-for-66 (45.5%) from the field and (6-for-15) 40% from three-point range
  • Fitchburg State finished 10-for-57 (17.5%) overall and (4-for29) 13.8% for beyond the arc
  • Framingham State held a 61-26 advantage on the boards
