Women's Basketball Blows Past Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, MA: Fitchburg State women's basketball defeated the Lions of Mount Holyoke College this evening in non-conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/30/23

- Score: Fitchburg 67, Mount Holyoke 44

- Records: Fitchburg (3-4), Mount Holyoke (0-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Falcons quickly outscored the Lions 18-8 in the first quarter. Mount Holyoke then cut that deficit with its best quarter of play, outscoring Fitchburg 14-12 in the second. However, the second half saw the Falcons' defense take over. Fitchburg forced the Lions to turn the ball over 31 times in the contest.

- The Falcons moved the ball around, getting ten players to score points in this one. Aliza Som (Lowell, MA) led the way with 13 points. Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA) finished with nine points and a team-high six assists. Kathryn Hart (Shirley, MA), Alexis DeSimone (Ashburnham, MA), and Caileen Hurley (Whitman, MA) all contributed another eight points each. Mikayler Patch (N. Attleboro, MA) finished with a team-high six rebounds to go along with her six points.

- The Lions struggled to maintain possession of the ball, which limited their scoring opportunities. Kendall Maurer made the most of those opportunities by scoring a team-high 11 points while coming off the bench. Nicole Lutalo was one point and one rebound short of a double-double, with nine in each category. Teal Howle contributed seven rebounds and six assists.
