Women's Basketball Flies Past MCLA

FITCHBURG, MA: Fitchburg State women's basketball took down the Trailblazers of MCLA this afternoon in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/27/24

- Score: Fitchburg 62, MCLA 39

- Records: Fitchburg (5-14, 2-5 MASCAC), MCLA (4-16, 1-6 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  For the majority of the contest, the Falcons had control of the score and kept their lead above ten points, stretching it out to 24 in the fourth quarter. Fitchburg built and maintained its lead with timely shooting and hitting seven three-point shots throughout the contest. MCLA did make a run in the third quarter, their best scoring output of the game with 14 points to the Falcons 10.

Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA) led the way for Fitchburg with 14 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Aliza Som (Lowell, MA) broke double digits again with 11 points. Stephanie Hart (Shirley, MA) topped the team with 11 rebounds.

- MCLA was paced by two players, Hailey Peabody and Zaylee Ramos. Both ended the game with double-doubles. Zaylee had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Peabody had 14 points with ten rebounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shooting: Fitchburg shot 37.3% from the floor, 35% from three, and 50% from the line. MCLA shot 29.5% from the floor, 9.1% from three, and 25% from the line.

-  Rebounds: Fitchburg 52, MCLA 37

-  Assists: Fitchburg 15, MCLA 8
