Women's Basketball Bested by Lancers

WORCESTER, MA: Fitchburg State women's basketball fell to the Lancers of Worcester State this evening in conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/31/24

- Score: Worcester 79, Fitchburg 50

- Records: Worcester (4-16, 3-4 MASCAC), Fitchburg (5-15, 2-6 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Lancers jumped out to a big lead in the opening quarter. Worcester outscored the Falcons 28-13 through the first frame. Their largest lead would peak at 31 with 1:49 left in the third quarter. Katie Hurynowicz played a key role in the Lancers success this evening as she dropped 23 points.  

- Fitchburg was paced by Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA), who scored 11 points and five rebounds. Kathryn Hart (Shirley, MA) finished with nine points of her own, along with five rebounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shooting: Worcester shot 47.9% from the floor, 38.5% from three, and 40% from the line. Fitchburg shot 22.7% from the floor, 7.7% from three, and 76% from the line.

-  Rebounds: Worcester 56, Fitchburg 37

-  Assists: Worcester 20, Fitchburg 5
