Falcon Pair Collects IWLCA Honor Roll Accolades

Perry and Lima among 219 students honored by ILWCA

FITCHBURG, Mass. (September 21, 2011) – The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team named two players to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll as announced by the organization this afternoon.

Graduate Constance Perry (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) and senior Michelle Lima (Medford, Mass./Medford) were among the 219 student-athletes honored by the IWLCA. Spanning over 85 different institutions, the 2011 Academic Honor Roll includes all student-athletes nominated by their schools that have achieved at least junior status academically and a 3.0 grade point average.

Perry, a two-year captain of the women’s lacrosse team, demonstrated extraordinary effort in both her academic and extracurricular activities. Off the field, she led the Fitchburg State Exercise and Sport Science team to a first place finish at the seventh annual College Bowl and more recently was honored as the Outstanding Student in Exercise and Sport Science at the University’s 34th annual Honors Convocation. On the field, Perry was a two-time All-Conference player and ranks as Fitchburg State’s all-time career leader in groundballs. She held a 3.53 GPA in Exercise & Sports Science and served as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. 

Lima, a two-year member of the Falcons lacrosse squad, has appeared in 24 career games for Fitchburg State, posting one goal, 24 groundballs and four caused turnovers. She registered her first collegiate goal as a sophomore, leading the Falcons to an 18-1 victory over Elms College. In the classroom, Lima has also been solid, earning a 3.32 GPA while majoring in Criminal Justice.

The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team concluded the 2011 season with a program best record of 12-3, including a 5-2 mark in the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance. The Falcons advanced to their second consecutive post-season, falling to second-seeded Castleton State, 17-13.
