Pair Named To Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Team

Apple and Darrigo earns All-Conference second team honors

 

FITCHBURG, Mass. (May 3, 2013) – The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team named two players to the 2013 MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference team as announced by the league office earlier this week.  

Junior Markie Apple (Pittsfield, Mass.) and freshman Elizabeth Darrigo (Billerica, Mass.) represented the Falcons, earning MASCAC All-Conference second team honors.

Apple earns her second consecutive All-Conference honor after being named to the All-Conference second team a year ago. This year, Apple was consistent for the Falcons, ranking second on the team in scoring with 30 goals and nine assists. In addition, Apple led all members of the team with 42 groundballs, while adding 28 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers.

Between the pipes, Darrigo earned her first career All-Conference selection, collecting second team honors as a goalie. This year, Darrigo was the backbone of the Fitchburg State defense, ranking 14th among all Division III players with a .518 save percentage. In net, Darrigo posted an overall record of 6-7, totaling 157 saves and a 13.45 goals against average over 772 minutes of work.

The Fitchburg State women’s lacrosse team concluded its 2013 campaign with an overall record of 6-12 and a 3-3 clip in the MASCAC.
