Falcons Collect Trio Of Post-Season Honors

C. Long earns IWLCA All-Region and ECAC DIII North accolades; Laferriere named to ECAC DIII North second team  

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Fitchburg State junior defender Carrie Long was recently named to the 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Berkshire All-Region Second Team as well as earning an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII North First Team selection, while senior attacker Ali Laferriere was named to the ECAC DIII North Second Team as announced by the IWLCA and ECAC this week.

C. Long posted 34 points on 27 goals and seven assists to go along with a conference leading 94 ground balls, 56 draw controls and 88 caused turnover, while currently leading the nation in caused turnovers per contest (4.63) and seventh nationally in ground balls per game (4.95).

Laferriere concluded the 2017 campaign with a team-leading 61 points on 48 goals scored and 13 helpers as wll as a team-best 64 draw controls, 27 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers in 19 appearances for the Green and Gold.

The Fitchburg State Women's Lacrosse team recently concluded its 2017 campaign with an overall record of 11-8 and a 4-3 mark in league play.
