Women’s Lacrosse Earns National Academic Accolades

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's lacrosse team has been recognized as an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the 2016-2017 academic year. Three members of the women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Honor Roll.

Falcon seniors Alisen Laferriere (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Madison Driscoll (Derry, NH) along with junior Lia Crutchfield (East Longmeadow, Mass.) are among the 535 student-athletes from 160 different Division III institutions to be acknowledged by the IWLCA. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. 

As a team, the FSU squad is one of 313 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA to earn the accolade. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. This year's 2017 team notched a 3.06 GPA.
