2018 Fitchburg State Women’s Lacrosse Schedule Announced

Falcons to open 2018 season on March 1st as they host Rivier University

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team's 2018 season has been announced with the Falcons scheduled to play a total of 17 games, including three games during its annual spring trip to Port Charlotte, Florida.

The Green and Gold concluded last season with an overall record of 11-8 and a 6-8 mark within Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play, en-route to earning the fourth seed in the 2017 MASCAC Women's Lacrosse post-season tournament.

This season, Fitchburg State is scheduled to play eight teams who won at least ten contests from a year ago, including three squads that qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

"The tough non-league schedule helps us prepare for conference play as every MASCAC game is competitive from top to bottom" said Fitchburg State head women's lacrosse coach Rick Terrio".

The Falcons open their 2018 slate on March 1st as they host the Raiders of Rivier University at Elliot Field before traveling to Johnson and Wales University to take on the Wildcats on March 8th.

During its annual spring trip to Florida, Fitchburg State will play Western Connecticut State (3/11), Gordon (3/13) and SUNY Canton (3/15). The Green and Gold return north to play three non-conference games, hosting Colby-Sawyer (3/21) and Regis (3/29) in between a road game at Elms (3/24).

"Being able to get those three games in during our annual spring trip to Florida allows us to face very good competition against three quality teams with the guarantee to get all three games in regardless of the weather" Terrio said. "The spring trip is also a team bonding experience for us."

The Falcons open Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play on March 31st as they visit defending MASCAC post-season champions Westfield State before going to UMass Dartmouth (4/4) for a non-conference matchup.

Fitchburg State returns home for a brief two-game home stand as it hosts the Trailblazers of MCLA (4/6) and Eastern Connecticut State (4/10) then hitting the road for a pair of MASCAC contests as it travels to Framingham State (4/13) and Salem State (4/17).

The Green and Gold return to Elliot Field on April 20th to take on MASCAC rival Bridgewater State before hosting conference foe Worcester State on April 25th. Fitchburg State concludes its 2018 regular season on April 27th when it travels to conference opponent Massachusetts Maritime Academy to close out the season.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament starts on May 1st and runs through the championship game on May 5th.
