Falcons Fall, 21-4 To Bears

Lee finishes with team-best four groundballs and three caused turnovers 

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-4 decision to the Bears of Bridgewater State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon from Swenson Field.

How It Happened

Bridgewater State took a 1-0 lead as senior Elizabeth Etheridge (Marshfield, Mass.) found the back of the net before Fitchburg State knotted the score (1-1) with senior Sarah Napolitano (Peabody, Mass.) registering the goal.

The Bears responded with nine straight tallies, highlighted by two each from freshman Jacqueline DeLorey (Westwood Mass.) and junior Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.), but the Falcons cut the lead to 13-3 going into the break as junior Tracy Long (Georgetown, Mass.) and senior Sarah Mallahan (Dracut, Mass.) netted scores.

Following the intermission, Bridgewater State upped its lead to 18-3, capped by a marker from McDonough, but Fitchburg State answered back on a goal from newcomer Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 18-4.

The Bears secured the win however minutes later when senior Lisa Moynihan (Hingham, Mass.) netted back-to-back goals, resulting in the 21-4 final.
