Falcons Drop 16-2 Decision To Owls

Miele nets two scores for Green and Gold

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-2 decision to the Owls of Westfield State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on senior night.

How It Happened

Westfield State grabbed a 9-0 margin to open the contest as senior Elizabeth Navoni (Mansfield, Mass.) collected two scores, while junior Maddie Bartkus (Marshfield, Mass.) capped the scoring run for the Owls.

Fitchburg State cut into the deficit as freshman Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) connected on her 20th marker on the season, but the Owls upped its margin to 12-1 going into the break on a score from senior Sydney Lambert (Hanover, Mass.).

Following the intermission, Westfield State extended its margin (16-1) on two tallies from senior Allie Fedak (Wilbraham, Mass.). The Green and Gold responded as Miele netted her second goal of the contest, resulting in 16-2 final.

Prior to the contest, the Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team honored its seven seniors playing in their final regular season contest. The seniors are #4 Sarah Napolitano (Peabody, Mass.), #5 Jessica Hall (Dracut, Mass.), #8 Nicole Lee (Quincy, Mass.), #11 Amanda Hem (Lowell, Mass.), #12 Marguerite Belcher (Quincy, Mass.), #13 Sarah Mallahan (Dracut, Mass.) and # Michelle Hennessey (Londonderry, N.H.).
