Women's Lacrosse Downed by the Owls of Keene State

KEENE, NH: Fitchburg State women's lacrosse fell to the Owls of Keene State in non-conference action this evening.  

THE BASICS:

- Score: Keene 21, Fitchburg 11

- Records: Keene (9-4), Fitchburg (6-8)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Owls dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Falcons 9-1. Hailey Ratajack netted three for Keene in the first to help them propel into the lead. Fitchburg responded with its best quarter of the game in the second, outscoring Keene 5-3. Alexis Raymond (Tewksbury, MA) continued her hot streak of scoring, followed by Abaigeal Doheny (Lunenburg, MA), Delaney Ponder (E. Bridgewater, MA), Nicole Orlowski (Ellington, CT), and Samantha Azzari (Haverhill, MA).

 Keene would come out after the half with another dominant quarter, netting six more goals to the Falcons two, bringing the score to 18-8 in favor of the hosting school. Orlowski and Raymond would score the bulk of Fitchburg's goals in the second half, with two each. The fourth quarter would have three goals scored by each team. Tess Brown found the back of the net for the fourth time for the Owls.  

- Elizabeth Smith (Plymouth, MA) (L, 1-2) saw eight shots in her start and didn't record a save. Mabelle Bessette (W, 9-4) saw eight shots and made two saves.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Ratajack topped all with 5 goals, 2 assists, 5 ground balls, 4 caused turnovers, and 3 draws.

-  Brown had 4 goals, 1 assist, 4 ground balls, 4 draws, and 4 caused turnovers.

-  Orlowski led the Falcons with 4 goals and 2 draw controls.

- Raymond had 3 goals and 4 ground balls for Fitchburg.
