Taylor posts a pair of markers in final regular season contest

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (October 31, 2009) - The Fitchburg State women's soccer team posted a season-closing victory in shutout fashion, defeating Framingham State College, 3-0 in MASCAC action this afternoon.

Fitchburg State concludes its 2009 season with an overall record of 5-11-1 and a 3-4-0 mark in the MASCAC as it falls one game shy of the MASCAC playoffs. Framingham State also ends its 2009 season with a record of 5-11-1 and a 1-5-1 clip in the MASCAC.

The Falcons received a solid effort from sophomore Lindsay Taylor (Blythewood, S.C./Blythewood), who netted a pair of markers in the contest, while junior Ali Landry (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) tallied one score. Senior Lauren Wundt (Southwick, Mass./Southwick-Tolland) also added one assist in the match and ends her Fitchburg State career as the Falcons all-time leading scorer with 99 points, 42 goals and 16 assists.

Fitchburg State collected its fifth victory of the season in a convincing manner as the Falcons controlled the offensive front throughout the entire game. Taylor opened the scoring for Fitchburg State midway through the first half, netting her first goal of the game in the 23rd minute. The Green and Gold answered again just 1:07 later as Taylor connected on an unassisted marker for her fourth goal of the year.

In the second half, Fitchburg State padded its two-goal lead as Landry touched the back of the net in the 61st minute. Landry found herself one-on-one with goalkeeper Kia Minor (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyward) and finished the transition for her second goal of the season.

Fitchburg State out-shot Framingham 19-10 in the contest with 13 attempts on target. Seniors Emily Swan (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) and Kyla Batchelder (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) totaled six saves combined for the Falcons third shutout of the season, while Minor stopped ten shots for the Rams.
