Hall's first collegiate tally lifts Falcons to key MASCAC victory

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Three different Falcon players collected a goal as the Fitchburg State women's soccer team defeated the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy, 3-1 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon at Elliot Field.

Fitchburg State opened the scoring at the 4:49 mark as junior defender Siobhan O'Connell collected a feed from senior forward Victoria Floeck, who tucked the ball inside the far post for her first tally on the season for the 1-0 lead.

The Falcons doubled their advantage (2-0) roughly two and half minutes later when sophomore midfielder Maddie Medina fired a shot into the lower right corner of the net for her first marker of the year.

Following the break, Mass. Maritime cut the deficit in half in the 50th minute of play as junior forward Stephanie Hunt found the back of the net for her team-leading eighth score of the 2016 campaign off a corner kick to make the score 2-1.

The Green and Gold added an insurance marker at the 77:56 mark when sophomore forward Jessica Hall blasted a shot from 25-yards out, tucking the ball just under the crossbar for her first collegiate goal, resulting in the 3-1 final.
