Women’s Soccer Bitten by Bears, 2-0

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's soccer team fell to Bridgewater State University 2-0 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Saturday morning at Elliot Field. The Falcons record dips to 5-9, 2-3 MASCAC overall while Bridgewater moves to 5-3-4 and remains undefeated (4-0-1) in conference play.

After an own goal score by the Falcons, the Bears pushed the lead to 2-0 when freshman Alana Vincent converted a pass from teammate Yasmina Teixeira for her fifth goal of the season.

The Falcons' best chance came in the first half with a pair of hard breakout shots from senior Ali Sheehan that were broken up by the Bridgewater netminder.

Alexandra Foster had 12 saves in the game for the Falcons, her counterpart Lauren DeSousa posted 2 for her fifth win and seventh shutout of the season. Bridgewater State has yet to surrender a goal in conference play.

The Bears held the advantage in shots (14-2) and corner kicks (3-2) in the contest.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday night, the Falcons host the University of Southern Maine at 7:00 pm while the Bears travel to Keene State for a MASCAC match-up beginning at 6:00pm
