Falcons Conclude Season With Setback To Rams, 6-1

Kopacz nets second tally of the season for Falcons 

Framingham, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's soccer team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Rams of Framingham State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon at the Maple Street Field.

How It Happened

Framingham State took a 2-0 lead to open the contest on markers by Erin Angelillo (Southington, Conn.) and Kaleigh Pallotta (Hanover, Mass.) before the Falcons answered back in the 24th minute of play on sophomore Nicole Kopacz's (Tewksbury, Mass.) second goal of the season to make the score 2-1 going into the break.

Following the intermission, the Rams used tallies by Melissa Sybertz (E. Bridgewater, Mass.), Pallotta, Abby Smith (Quincy, Mass.) and Kirsten Hanson (Auburn, Mass.) en-route to the 6-1 final.

25th meeting between the two schools on the pitch with the Falcons 8-16-1 when taking on the Rams.

Framingham State has won the six contests against Fitchburg State with the Falcons last win over the Rams occurring on October 23, 2010 (3-0) at Elliot Field.

Freshman Sarah Hemmings (Eastham, Mass.) finished with three saves for the Falcons, while junior Jennifer Stevens (Hopkinton, Mass.) stopped three shots for the Rams in the victory.

Framingham State finished with a 20-14 advantage in shots, while also holding an 8-2 margin in corner kicks.
