Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University fell to the Cougars of Clark University 1-0 in non-conference action on Thursday evening at Elliot Field.

How it Happened

Clark tipped the twine with just over ten minutes remaining in the first half. On the first corner of the game, freshman Jamie Joseph (Cazenovia, NY) headed a perfect cross pass from sophomore Taylor Barbieri (Glastonbury, Conn.) top shelf, for her second goal of the season and the eventual game winner.

 The Falcon's best chance of the evening came last in the second half when Elicia Marshall (Taunton, Mass.) threaded a through ball just past the outstretched attempt from Mikaela Mitchell (Millbury, Mass.).

By The Numbers

Freshman Morgan Small (Quakertown, Penn.) posted two saves for her first collegiate victory. Amanda Hem (Lowell, Mass.) made five saves in relief of goaltender Sarah Hemmings (Eastham, Mass.).

Clark held the advantage in shots (13-3) and corners (5-0).

Up Next

The Falcons return to action on Saturday when they host the Vikings of Salem State University at 12:30pm. The game will be for Alzheimer's Awareness, the women's soccer team will don purple warm-up shirts plus have raffle prizes, a bake sale and a 50/50 raffle to support the cause. Clark will host Mount Holyoke next Tuesday at 1:00pm.​
