How it Happened

Fifty-five seconds from the opening whistle, Salem State junior Casey McFall (Wilmington, Mass.) deposited an unassisted tally to put the Viking up early.

The visitors doubled the lead 33:30 into the frame as sophomore Taylor Capozzi (Lynn, Mass.) sent a through-ball, splitting the Falcons defense and finding a streaking Emily Boyle (Manchester, NH)  who snuck the ball past Fitchburg State keeper Sarah Hemmings (Eastham, Mass) for the sophomore's second strike of the season.

Salem added a pair of goals early in the second half. Junior Katie Brown (Milford, Mass) and Ashley Leboeuf (Dracut, Mass.) each notched goals to extent the lead to 4-0.

The Falcons avoided the shutout cutting the deficit to 4-1 when freshman Elicia Marshall (Taunton, Mass.) capitalized on a defensive miscue to pot her team leading eighth goal of the season.

Freshman Julianna Stacey (Hanover, NH) rounded out the scoring for Salem, posting her first collegiate goal.

Inside the Numbers

Hemmings made nine saves in the loss, while sophomore Rebecca Sabinio (Peabody, Mass) posted four saves for her second win of the season.

The Vikings outshot the Falcons 20-10, and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
