Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State Women's Soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to the Fighting Scots of Gordon College in non-conference action this morning from Elliot Field.

How It Happened

Gordon opened the scoring at the 11:46 mark as senior Christin Redding (Linwood N.J.) collected a loose ball on the left side of the net and deposited a shot inside the far post for her second goal of the season for the 1-0 edge.

Fitchburg State knotted the score (1-1) in the 28th minute of action when freshman Elizabeth Read (Lowell, Mass.) lofted a shot from 25 yards out and into the upper left corner for her team-leading fourth tally on the year.

Following the break, the Fighting Scots regained the lead with 16 minutes remaining in the contest as Redding received a feed from junior Monet Marshall (Redmond, Wash.) and struck for her second goal of the contest to make the score 2-1.

The visitors added an insurance goal minutes later as senior Lexi Potter (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) tucked the ball inside the near post for her third marker of the 2019 season, resulting in the 3-1 final.
