Hemmings makes 11 saves for Fitchburg State in non-conference setback

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State Women's Soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Lynx of Lesley University this afternoon in non-conference action from Elliot Field.

How It Happened

Lesley nearly grabbed the lead early in the contest as senior Gabby Vesona (North Attleboro, Mass.) and junior Chloe Kouyoumdjan (La Canada, Calif.) put a pair of shots on frame, but Falcon keeper Sarah Hemmings (Eastham, Mass.) turned aside both shots.

The Lynx opened the scoring in the 32md minute of play with senior Katelyn Scott (Glendora, Calif.) blasted a free kick from 25 yards out into the upper left corner for her third marker on the season for the 1-0 edge.

Following the break, Lesley doubled their advantage at the 66:42 mark when sophomore Claire Hounslow (Westborough, Mass.) collected a rebounded shot and connected for her seventh tally of the year.

The Lynx capped the scoring in the 75th minute of action as Kouyoumdjan found the back of the net for her sixth goal of the 2019 campaign, resulting in the 3-0 final.

This afternoon's contest marked the seventh meeting between the two teams on the pitch with the Falcons 2-5 all-time when taking on the Lynx

Falcons will travel to Salem State on Saturday to take on the Vikings for a MASCAC bout, starting at 1:00 PM. Lynx concluded their 2019 regular season this afternoon and have clinched the number one overall seed into the upcoming NECC post season tournament.
