Fitchburg State Soars At DIII NE Championships

Woolley collects All-NE Honors with second place finish in the 60m hurdles 

Springfield, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's indoor track and field team competed at the 2018 DIII New England Championships this weekend at the Blake Arena, hosted by Springfield College.

Senior Annie Woolley (Malden, Mass.) paced the Falcons after earning All-New England Honors with the second place time of 8.84 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, while freshman Kambrynn Bowman (Norton, Mass.) added a 17th place finish in the 800 meter with a time of 2:28.16.

The distance medley relay team of senior Nicole Gaffney (Paxton, Mass.), classmate Shawna Ryan (Hanson, Mass.), junior Casey Taylor (Chelmsford, Mass.) and sophomore Micalea Goldenberg (Douglas, Mass.) placed 13th overall with a time of 13:39.75.

Junior Amy Kelly (Stoughton, Mass.) turned in a time of 18:45.41 in the 5000 meter with a 23rd place effort, while sophomore Brianna Young (Mansfield, Mass.) added a 22nd place finish in the shotput with toss of 10.17 meters.

The 4x200 meter relay team of Goldenberg, Ryan, freshman Isabella Berardi (Norton, Mass.) and senior Angelica Beato (Lowell, Mass.) rounded out the top Falcon performances over the weekend, placing 18th overall with time of 1:55.79.

The Fitchburg State women's indoor track team returns to action on Saturday, March 3rd as select members complete in the Tufts Last Chance Qualifier Meet at 10:00 AM.
