Woolley To Compete At 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Senior Annie Woolley (Malden, Mass.) will represent Fitchburg State University this week at the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships hosted by Birmingham Southern College on March 9th and 10th at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Woolley currently ranks first among all Division III schools in the 60 meter hurdles, collecting her third trip to the big dance after witnessing an outstanding senior campaign. Annie earned a trip the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships after earning top honors at the 2018 Tufts Last Chance National Qualifying Meet on Saturday, March 3rd with a personal best time of 8.68 seconds to break her own school record in the event.

In addition to her national accolades, Annie also fared well at a trio of post-season events. At the MASCAC/Alliance Championships, Woolley captured the MASCAC/Alliance Championship in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.77 seconds before adding a seconds place efforttime of 8.84 seconds at the DIII New England Championship Meet at Springfield College. Annie rounded out her post-season performances at the All-NE Championships, posting a 17th place finish with a time of 9.20 seconds on February 3rd.

For each women's individual event including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition, while for each men's individual event including the heptathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted in the competition.

The Fitchburg State men's and women's indoor track and field teams concluded their seasons this past weekend as members of the squads competed at the 2018 Tufts Last Chance National Qualifying Meet at the Gantcher Field House.
